Celebrating Asian Americans in the sports world.

About

Why are there so few Asian American athletes playing major college and professional sports in the US?

A podcast for Asian Americans with episodes every couple weeks, The Asian American Athlete celebrates Asian American athletes - and strives to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of Asian American athletes.

Via interviews conducted by host Justin Hong, The Asian American Athlete:

Celebrates and tells stories. Specifically, the stories of Asian American athletes who have made it to the college or professional levels - as well as the stories of Asian Americans in the coaching ranks, sports media, sports management, etc.

Educates and equips. The lack of institutional knowledge on how to develop and elevate athletes to the next level has been a challenge for Asian Americans. How does the recruiting process work? What’s a private skills coach? What camps are there for ongoing skill development? Outside of school, what leagues are there? How does a post-graduate year work? This show aims to answer these - and many more - questions to provide more institutional knowledge for the audience.

Helps Asian American athletes overcome stereotypes, biases, and Asian American-specific challenges. Through interviews with Asian American athletes and experts on Asian American-related issues, this podcast aims to help, coach, and mentor the next generation of Asian American athletes to overcome stereotypes and biases in their athletic careers.
